True Classics: Gianca Nibbio 100

Gianca was a historical Italian scooter company from 1947 to 1952. The companies first and only product was known as Nibbio 100, and is also the first scooter that was built in Italy, before Vespa or Lambretta. The Nibbio 100 was designed by engineer Scarpa. In one of his first versions had a displacement of 98 cc, with a two-stroke propeller mounted on a tubular chassis, similar to that used in the Lambretta. In 1949, despite advertising, the Nibbio failed to meet the favor of the market. The company changed hands to San Christopher in Milan. San Christopher, Having bought the rights to this project, changed the body, and propelled the Nibbio to a 125 cc with valve discs. Despite these measures to improve the performance of this new project, San Christopher went bankrupt in 1952. It would be extremely rare to see this bike out side of a museum...
